  • SNOWMOBILE ORDINANCE

    The City of Sault Ste. Marie adopted a snowmobile ordinance which regulates the use of snowmobiles within the City of Sault Ste. Marie.  The City Commission authorized the use of the following streets, alleys and right-of-ways for the operation of a snowmobile as follows:

    The City Commission adopted an ordinance amending Chapter 24, Article VI, Sections 24-117 through Sections 24-156 that prescribes certain requirements for snowmobiles that operate on City streets that are approved by resolution of the City Commission for snowmobile use.

  • WINTER PARKING RESTRICTIONS

    TAKE NOTICE: EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 1, 2011, no person except for physicians, ambulance drivers, or undertakers on emergency calls shall park a motor vehicle on any street or alley between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Additionally, no person (with the above exceptions) shall park a motor vehicle on the odd numbered address side of any street.  The odd numbered restriction does not apply to: street segments where signs are currently posted to prohibit parking on one or both sides, streets with designated metered parking spaces or permit parking spaces, Ashmun St. between Easterday Ave. and Portage Ave., W. Portage Ave. between Gov. Osborn Blvd. and Ashmun St, Bingham Ave. between E. 6th Ave. and E. Easterday Ave., Peck St. between West Portage Avenue and Fort St., Ridge St. between Magazine St. and Gov. Osborn Blvd, and E. Portage Ave. between Bingham Ave. and Mission St.  This parking prohibition is issued pursuant to Section 24-35, Article III of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

    Violation of the overnight parking fine will result in a fine of $50.00.  Violation of the winter parking restrictions will result in a fine of $25.00.


  • RIVERSIDE CEMETERY SEASONAL CLOSURE

    The City of Sault Sainte Marie will be seasonally closing the Riverside Cemetery effective Saturday, December 3.  The cemetery will be closed during the winter months and the roads will not be plowed.  Reopening of the cemetery and its operations will be on Monday, April 2, 2012.
